Subcommand
>>> ELEMENT

Description
This command selects displacement, i.e., subsidence (negative) or uplift (positive), as an observation type. Approximate, one-dimensional deformations are calculated based on porosity changes induced by changes in fluid pressure and/or temperature. No stress-strain calculation is performed. Relative porosity changes calculated by TOUGH2 expand or contract the distance between elements belonging to the same column. These changes are then integrated along the column to calculate new element Z-coordinates. Volumes and nodal distances are not changed, i.e., the TOUGH2 mesh is not dynamically adapted. Details are given in the report Enhancements to the TOUGH2 Simulator Integrated in iTOUGH2.
